July sees two new, and debut, albums win their first-ever Platinum Europe Awards, with four further awards given to albums already in the Platinum Europe club.

50 Cent has made a good start to his manifesto as evinced by album title Get Rich Or Die Trying as the debut from the rapper hits the one million sales mark in Europe winning him his first Platinum Europe Award. In a hip-hop world full of wannabe gangsters, there is also 50 Cent, whose background (and at least nine bullet wounds!) mark him out as the genuine 'real deal'.

Evanescence's debut Fallen has brought the foursome from Little Rock, Arkansas a Platinum Award for European sales of over one million. The band's newfound popularity was spurred by two of the album tracks My Immortal and Bring Me to Life, featuring on the soundtrack of movie Daredevil.

Shania Twain notches up a further million European sales for Up!, which achieves a double Platinum Europe Award. Released in November 2002, it was Twain's first new album release in five years, co-written by husband and producer Robert John 'Mutt' Lange.

Coldplay's second album A Rush Of Blood To The Head continues its rise with three million sales and a triple Platinum Europe Award. The album has also picked up five national gold awards (Austria, Denmark, France, Portugal, Spain) six platinum awards (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland) and, in the UK and Ireland, achieved national platinum x 5.

Linkin Park's debut Hybrid Theory also achieves a triple Platinum Europe Award. On the way, the album has hit gold or double gold in three countries, had platinum success in a further 11 countries, and gone multiple platinum in four more.

Barry White's The Ultimate Collection achieves foursquare success with a, sadly posthumous, quadruple Platinum Europe Award. The collection features many of the crooner's most loved and made love-to tracks including You're The First, The Last, My Everything, Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe, Just The Way You Are and many more.
